Definitions of CAF and AOSP cores
Classification of cores for Nexus 5:
- AOSP Kernels: Kernels built on the basis of official sources fromGoogleFrom the "android.googlesource.com" repository.
Such kernels are able to work only on AOSP / Stock-based firmware and are more approximate with the official kernel, in comparison with CAF.

- CAF kernels: kernels based on source codes from uv.Myfluxi, Which, in turn, designed the tree hammerheadcaf on the basis of a picture of MSM from the "CodeAuroraForum".These kernels can only work on CAF firmware. Their main practical difference from AOSP cores lies in significant improvements in terms of sound, video driver, CPU and GPU. Result: AOSP kernels use stable and time-tested drivers and internal nodes (however, some AOSP kernels do not disdain to use CAF chunks), while CAF kernels use the latest hardware implementation of iron using experimental drivers, backports and more efficient architectural nodes and blocks , Which, in turn, can affect the overall stability of the system.

Why CAF kernels do not work on AOSP firmware?

How to return to the stock kernel:

  • The kernel is built on the basis of actual sources from Google (hammerhead-mr3 from September 16, 2016).
  • The compiler was Google NDK (R15).
  • The kernel was assembled with the Makefile flags: -O2, Snapdragon & Cortex-A15, VFPv4 NEON | Hardfloat.
  • "SELinux" is hard-coded into the "Permissive" mode.
  • Most of the debuggers are disconnected, including "DEBUG_KERNEL". The kernel works stably, so there is no need for them. The bulk of the debugging is still in "dmesg" and "last_ksmg".
  • Added module Motorola Memutils, optimized for MSM8974. Completely analogous to that of Maximus. This module optimizes the calls to memcpy, memmove and copy_page, which are used throughout the kernel. As a result, it raises the memory bandwidth.
  • Added a patch kexec-hardboot, which uses the Kexec mechanism, which allows one kernel to be launched on top of another. Unlike the main Kexec, and so present in the kernel, kexec-hardboot lets you run the kernel preloaded into memory with kexec, completely restarting the hardware. This is necessary for the correct operation of the MultiROM.   • The DTB is slightly reconfigured. I added an additional 10 seconds to the watchdog counter so that it does not accidentally kill the kernel.   • The interrupt timer frequency is increased to 300Hz, as on newer devices. The "sched_clock" node uses 56 bits instead of 32 bits. All this increased the responsiveness of the system, leaving the interrupt rate at a level acceptable for mobile devices.
  • The "Audit" module was disabled, which caused significant spam on the drain. There will be no benefit from it, for SELinux will never change its condition.
  • Reduced the delay in transferring input events from the touchscreen driver during an interrupt.
  • The ability to emulate "USB Mass Storage" as a "cdrom" device.
  • Thanks uv. The SultanXDA kernel is able to hide the status of the bootloader from the system. This was achieved by removing the flag "verifiedbootstate" from the user's cmdline (exclusively in / proc / cmdline.) This cmdline is not touched. In theory, this should help with SafetyNet (along with suhide, of course), however I do not know how SafetyNet will respond to the SELinux state, which is hardwired into Permissive.   • "Dynamic file synchronization (DFSv3.0)", adapted for "State Notifier".   • The main variables of the nuclear thermal driver - "MSM Thermal" - are displayed in the user space. IMPORTANT! This thermal driver is DISABLED and will never be active! Instead, it uses the stock "thermal-engine-hh", because this is the only solution that works stably.
  • ARCH_POWER and GENTLE_FAIR_SLEEPERS are disabled. Both variables do not do any good on our device.
  • The I / O scheduler "Zen" is added and enabled. There is nothing better for eMMC 4.5 and will not.

Root Explorer -> along this path "/ sys / android_touch /" find the file "doubletap2wake". In it there is a value of 0, change to 1.
After the reboot is reset.

Patch for the dalwick is / no? Although by the fact that even up to 30k shorts most likely not worth it.

Franco's kernel has several advantages over the stock one in terms ofBattery saving saving features, One of my favorites being the removal of MPdecision which in lay-mans terms changes the min and maximum speed the CPU can run on based on live temprature checks. Franco's hot plug driver always keeps 2 cores online and correlated to the load of the corps 3 and 4 if and only if you touch the screen the screen the CPU speed is boosted to aproximately 1.2ghz for a CPU speed is able to lower speed back to lower speeds thanks to his tuned interactive govenor. Franco has created a govenor for the GPU.Save you battery. Franco has added some newer drivers for WiFi which alsoHelps reduce idle battery drainWhile you are on a busy WiFi network. The screen colors have been made to have a cooler color temprature since kernel 11. Franco has recently added an interface where you can boost a microphone, speaker and headphone gain levels. Franco is a nonsense of kindness, not a fan of buzz. He works exclusively on the nexus line. Generally the phones see more pamphlets and tabs from Galaxy Nexus right through to the latest Nexus 5. Special thanks to @JNewms for being Franco's tester while he was awaiting shipment so we did not miss our Favorite kernel in that time!
